NewDad releases music video for their debut ‘How’ single

by | Sep 1, 2021 | BandCamp, Videos, YouTube

NewDad released a music video for their song How. This song was their first single they released in March, 2020. Earlier this year they released an EP called Waves that had two of their 2020 singles.

This West Coast Irish band has been breaking out, with six of their songs drawing over 100,000 streams, and two that are north of a million… quite impressive for a band that has released a total of ten songs.

NewDad blends a post-rock sound with shoegaze tones. They have been playing music festivals to packed out crowds this summer.

The music video for How was shot at various scenes as a backdrop… a grassy Irish field, the open ocean, a bay, a beach, and Galway, Ireland behind them, mixed in with animated raindrops. The video feels like it could be from the 1990s, sitting well with the aggressive bass line, electric guitar tones, driving beat, and vocal melody. Cian Mac Coille directed and shot the video, and the animation was by Inigo WSM.

Considering that we live in a time when there are 60,000 new singles per day, it’s refreshing to see a band bring longevity and life to a song that’s been out for more than a few weeks. This is a debut single that’s quite impressive and is deserving of a music video.
