Long-Awaited Beach Fossils Single, ‘Don’t Fade Away’

Beach Fossils

Beach Fossils

If you’re like me, you’ve been looking forward to more music from Beach Fossils. 2021 brought us The Other Side of Life: Piano Ballads, which hit no. 3 on Billboard’s Traditional Jazz chart; their last full-band LP Somersault was out in 2017. Six years later and on the other side of the Pandemic, Beach Fossils will be releasing their next studio album on June 2, Bunny, via Bayonet Records.

Dustin Payseur of Beach Fossils describes the LP:

This is an album about missing friends, falling in love, embracing your mistakes, being depressed, having fun, absolute freedom, self-medicating, anger, longing, anxiety, self-discovery, being an idiot, hate, friendship, being lazy, being afraid, being naive, ignoring bullshit, trying new things, having regrets, being alive, feeling alone, loss of love, shedding the past, fucking up, healing and new beginnings. Bunny represents strength through vulnerability.

Don’t Fade Away was released today, and it’s a beautiful jangle pop single. The sound picks up where Somersault left off. The bass line syncs tightly with the drums, and guitars have a heavy chorus tone, picking melodies that intertwine well with their steady vocals. Dustin’s vocal tracks are rich with harmonies and a nice trailing reverb and panned to the sides, setting it nicely in the music.

If the first single is any indication of the album, Bunny will continue their influence on bedroom pop. We can’t wait to hear more.
