King Hannah – Tell Me Your Mind and I’ll Tell You Mine EP
King Hannah released their debut EP, Tell Me Your Mind and I’ll Tell You Mine. We’re really impressed with the immersive and atmospheric sounds, and Hannah Merrick‘s soul searching voice. Craig Whittle’s guitar tones are gripping, mixing so well with Hannah’s vocal delivery.
Hannah’s vocals remind us of Chan Marshall of Cat Power, and even has elements of the bluesy sound on heard The Greatest. This Liverpool band (signed to City Slang) combines shoegaze with Americana sounds, with an overall ambient mix. The production is equally as interesting and inspiring.
Ben Kingston – Pretend I Don’t Care single
Ben Kingston is a new indie pop artist from Whitby, Canada, a suburb of Toronto. Yesterday, he released Pretend I Don’t Care, his first single; it has a chillwave sound in the vein of Washed Out. Kingston shared with Puddlegum that this song is about, “the feeling of craving someone’s affection that you can’t have. As a result, you feel forced to brush off the desire as if you don’t care about that person at all.”
Teethe – Teethe LP
Teethe is a lo-fi four-piece band from Dallas who released a self-titled LP two weeks ago. The twelve track album has a dirty slowcore sound that reminds us a bit of early Pedro the Lion meets Neutral Milk Hotel.
This is one of those albums to put on while you kick back and relax. It’s quite the impressive debut. And to open with twelve tracks that feel cohesive from start to finish? That isn’t easy to pull off. (Thanks David Dean Burkhart for the find!)
