Barrie is a brilliant indie artist. Their Happy to Be Here album from 2019 was a favorite of mine that year, and there were quite a few great ones to compete with.

Barrie released 5K EP on Friday through Winspear, and it’s so good! Most of the EP was shared in advance as singles, but hearing them together is a great experience. This comes one year after releasing Barbara.

After releasing and touring Barbara and 5K over the last two years, I’m looking forward to spending some time writing and recording & figuring out what comes next.

Spotify put her on the front cover of the All New Indie playlist, great exposure with 1.27 million likes. The unreleased track Ghost World has picked up more than 50,000 spins three days. Well deserved for Barrie and Winspear.

This one has Bloomington ties (where Puddlegum is based). Winspear originally started here, and Ben Lumsdaine tracked tasty drums on this EP. Ben has been in and produced for other bands tied to this town: Hoops, Kevin Krauter, Spissy, Durand Jones, Mike Adams At His Honest Weight, and David Woodruff.
