Tokyo Tea Room arrived on the scene in 2019 with the Dream Room EP, a British group hailing from Canterbury in the southeast of England. This past December we were graced by the release of a new EP. No Future Plans is 4 tracks of soft, chill, pop, psychedelic tones. It was released by the French label Nice Guys.

The band says that it was inspired by “the summer nights and serene atmosphere of a seaside town” (Bandcamp). It totally delivers with this in mind. The opening track If You Love Her is pop gem reminiscent of 80’s funk. The bass line of this track keeps your head bopping along. The vocals are melodic and dreamy while the guitars are like a summer breeze.

Needin takes us on a more relaxed vibe, with synth chords just sort of bounce lightly to a simple groove. The bass lies behind this melodic waling bass line.

The third track Eat You Alive is a groove that is purely soulful. This track has it all. If you close your eyes you can picture that those summer nights by the seaside.

Open your eyes to your life
Don’t let it eat you alive

Don’t Let It Eat You Alive (Bandcamp)

The EP closes with yet another poppy groove; Feel Your Heart again has that funky bass line that just seems to keep you moving throughout the song.

This psych pop sound is the perfect meeting of melodic bass lines woven with hypnotic guitars and dream poppy synths to form one unique sound that is sure to delight your ears.
