Major Murphy released the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album, the title-track Access. Access is a fuzzy guitar-driven anthem that you’ll put on repeat. Chunky palm-muted guitars open the powerful yet dreamy shoegaze song, doubled and panned partially left and right.
Jacob Bullard‘s vocals are mixed with a slap delay and blended with a gentle reverb, giving it a timeless feel; harmonies play off the melodies of the guitars. “Something in the way and I know that I’m part of it, like every single day there’s a world that’s left uncovered.”
Additional guitar layers build the energy, with a distant synth, and drums placed in a large room behind these layers. Major Murphy recorded Access at Russian Recording, an excellent studio in Bloomington, Indiana.
“What else can I say that’s not already part of it?
Major Murphy – Access (BandCamp)
With everything in place it will surely be uncovered
Even in my own mind I’m going back in time
And I’m hoping the pieces align”
Major Murphy will release the album on April 2nd, via Winspear (Slow Pulp, Barrie, Video Age), and we can say that it’s a great LP. Preorder Access on Bandcamp.
